We love seeing our students lead and serve! 💙 Earlier this week, our middle school Speech & Debate students took time out of their busy schedules to partner with our first graders—helping them read, build confidence, and reach their AR goals. 📚 Moments like these show the power of mentorship and the impact our older students can have on the next generation. We’re proud of these young leaders for setting the example and making a difference in our school community! #KeysPride #StudentLeaders #ReadersAreLeaders

We are incredibly proud of our 6th grade Character Education class representatives who did an outstanding job at tonight’s Board of Education meeting! 🇺🇸 These students confidently led the Pledge of Allegiance and shared about the impact of our Character Ed assemblies with our board members and guests. They represented our school with poise, leadership, and Cougar pride! Thank you for being such great role models and for showcasing the importance of character, leadership, and student voice in our school. Keep up the great work—we are proud of you!

Welcome to the Cougar team, Kevin Wade! 🍎

Keys Public Schools is thrilled to announce that Kevin Wade will be joining our district as the new PreK-8 Principal. Kevin is a veteran educator with over 35 years of experience serving as a building principal, school counselor, and teacher. He joins us most recently from Baxter Springs, Kansas, where he served as an elementary principal. Kevin is a familiar leader in the region, having spent over two decades as a principal in Commerce, Oklahoma. During his tenure there, he was honored by his peers as the Principal of the Year for District 6A by the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals.

A few highlights about our new principal:

Experienced Leadership: Kevin has a proven track record of fostering positive school cultures and successfully implementing student support systems like MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports).

Student-Centered Philosophy: His approach is rooted in the belief that meaningful relationships are the foundation of a successful school.

Local Roots: He is a proud alumnus of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and his Master’s degree in School Counseling.

A Message from Principal Wade:
"I am deeply appreciative and honored to be offered the Keys Elementary Principal position. I am excited to join the Cougar team and contribute to the wonderful school program already in place. I look forward to working with the outstanding teachers, staff, parents, and community. Most importantly, students will always be my top priority as we help prepare them for a successful future. I feel truly blessed and cannot wait to get started."

Please join us in giving Principal Wade a warm "Cougar Country" welcome! 🐾

Fourth-grade students conducted research on a variety of fascinating and unique creatures last week and created dioramas to represent their habitats. Some of the species studied included the flying fox bat, red-lipped batfish, blobfish, roundworms, tapeworms, Goliath bird-eating spider, and the blood-squirting lizard. Outstanding projects were recognized for their quality and creativity. First place was awarded to Sam Mallot for the Peregrine Falcon diorama. Second place went to Macie Hayes for the Secretary Bird, and third place was earned by Lillian Vintges for the Rosy Maple Moth. Students greatly enjoyed the opportunity to explore and learn about these unusual creatures through hands-on research and creative presentation.
